There are a lot of people asking
these days, “How do I get my tube noticed on Fargotube?” It is true… There are
a lot of people out there with a lot of things to show you and say! Social
Media has improved our ability to publish what we want to say, in a fairly
simple and non-traditional way. Everyone has something to say now! So what
happens when everyone is fighting for a fans attention and the fans can only
choose one tube to look at? It means that someone is getting ignored or looked
over and you do not want that tube to be yours. From what I have noticed… the
key is content and good content to be exact. If you want to get a fan or
customer’s attention, you need to have content on your tube that is cool,
relevant and engaging! Fargotube allows you to upload movies, shows, videos,
photos and music to your tube. It also allows you to set your prices however
you want, so your fans can get the content that you have to offer. You have to
remember something if you are uploading content to your tube… uploading content
is only part of the process. Get out there and meet people with other tubes and
let them know you have content to share. Here are a few ideas for people who
need help breaking through the noise and are looking to get some new fans or
customers .
Now that anyone can share content
in real time, from anywhere… anytime… what does it take to break through the
noise and stand out in the crowd? First of all, most social media experts say
that fans and customers are looking for 4 important variables that affect our
awareness of content. People want to read, see and hear content that is
informative, educational, resolute and entertaining. People want content and they are willing to
do whatever it takes to get good, consistent, valuable content.
Here are a few types of content
that you have to have on your tube… It is what the people want!
1)
VIDEOS
– of course! Videos are more popular today than they ever have been in
social media. I have a lot of bands asking me why fans are not coming back to
their site. It is all about the videos.
If you do not have your videos up on Fargotube, you are missing out on
an important opportunity to engage your fans. Music videos are awesome… They do
not have to be expensive but they should be creative. I think it is safe to say
that, fans want to see what you are up to. People want to see interviews and
know what you are up to in your life. They want to know what it is like to be
in a band and to have fans that care! Ask your fans to send in their questions
and answer them directly and honestly. I don’t think it hurts either, if you
are an artist, to interview your favorite artists, local music venues or even
your most engaging fans! The key is creativity! Show them something that they
want to know. “How to” videos are always great… show your fans how to play your
hit song or even your favorite cover songs. I know for a fact that there are a
lot of people out there learning guitar, who would appreciate the actual artist
showing them how to play a riff on guitar! One last thing about videos… there
are a lot of really good videographers out there, making a career out of
shooting videos and editing. Reach out to them and see if you can help each
other out. I know of band that couldn’t afford a video so they almost gave up.
I told them about a friend of mine who shot videos, who needed music for a
different video he was getting paid to shoot. I hooked the two parties up and
sure enough… everyone got what they needed for free! The coolest part was, the
videographer really knew a lot about how to use social media and he got the
band some really good attention from the video.
2)
Images-
This is a no brainer right? You would be surprised how many people do not
understand the importance of cool, fresh new images and how they affect the
engagement of your fans and customers. Sharing images on Fargotube has become a
daily “to do” for most people. High quality photos are always the best, but
images do not always have to be photos of the band or business. I know a band
that does a lot of artwork separately but they take pictures of all of the
artwork and share it regularly. Their fans really appreciate them for that. Images
can be anything from cool new logos to pictures with cool quotes. Once again,
the key to social media is content, and the key to getting people to know your
brand is when other people share your content. Get your fans involved. Get the
fans to share your pics from live concerts. Start a fan club in your most
popular areas and encourage fans to create images and logos to support that particular
area. Upload some images of your day to
day life or offer a cool image as a gift and give it to your fans or customers
to share with others.
3)
Music
– Everyone loves music. I do think that a lot of people are missing out on
using music these days to engage their fans and customers. A lot of bands
upload a new song and expect people to run and listen to the next big thing.
When that doesn’t happen, they get frustrated and complain that people do not
understand. I have helped many bands and even a few businesses understand how
they can use music to promote the brand. It is true that people are not buying
as much music these days, but that does not mean people are NOT buying music.
Also, music is the nucleus of our social lives. It is the social cohesion that
holds us all together… and you want your brand supporting that cohesion on any
level possible. If you are a band releasing a new album, offer to give out 100
free albums to the fans that listen and give you criticism on your first
single. Let them listen and offer them the ability to share their opinions to
you, your other fans and all of their friends. Once they have started the ball
rolling for you, give them the album and then release it to the public. Let
people know that you love creating music and it does cost to record high
quality music. However, don’t expect them to pay if they do not have the money.
You don’t want to lose a fan because they want to spend their dollar elsewhere.
Give them an opportunity to download it for free… but make them work for it.
Tell your fans… if you share this image with 100 fans, our band will send you a
download code for free. Make it fun for them! It is all about the numbers.
Sooner or later you will get people who understand the value of what you are
doing and you will get paid. I always thought it was a good idea to team up
with local businesses and other bands to release a compilation album. Find a
good cause to donate the proceeds to… GET CREATIVE. You want to get your music content
out there.
Content is King. Every band, musician, artist, school, business or
organization needs to engage its fans and customers using content. Do not be
afraid to invest in a photographer, videographer or graphic designer to help
you with your work. Take a look and see how many fans they have on their tube.
Partner up with people who can help you spread your message! Invest in CONTENT.
Don’t look at it as an expense if you are a business. You must invest in what
you are doing, if you expect to see any returns. If you have any questions, hit
us up here at Fargotube. We have many ideas on how to improve your content and
how to get noticed. I have to get going. I am going to upload some new videos
and images to my tube. Content is King!
